SCHEDULING SESSIONS ONE ON ONE WITH YOUTH

Becoming Myself

Youth Mindfulness Drop In

Free for youth aged 15 to 24. A program of the Health Promotion Center of the Southern Jamaica Plain Health Center (BWH).  3:45pm to 5:45pm Tuesdays. With ice cream to start!

Who am I? What do I want to do when I grow up? Why is life so hard? How did the world end up in such a mess and is there any hope at all? How do I deal with pressures of family, school, relationships, social media, and technology? What can I do to make a difference?

If you’re like many young people, these questions can sometimes feel overwhelming. We have strategies to get through, be that numbing out to dull the pain or distract ourselves from the truth of our experience.

Mindfulness simply means noticing what is happening with curiosity and kindness. With mindfulness we can become painfully aware of the inequities around us. Fortunately, along with reducing anxiety, increasing focus, calm, and happiness mindfulness also offers a pathway to healing personal and intergenerational trauma and creates motivation to address these inequities.

Together, over the course of the year we will learn and share practices to:

  • Go for stillness so we may know ourselves more deeply,
  • Feel the strength and support of those who love us,
  • Be in our bodies to feel the groundedness within us,
  • Use our voices to express what is inside us, and
  • Discover and cultivate our gifts.

Join us any and all Tuesdays to have fun and drop into the present moment while becoming yourself!

Adults and Elders are encouraged to inquire about attending as a guest speaker.
